Tis the season...

"Life was a lot simpler when what we honored was father and mother rather than all major credit cards." -Robert Orben

Got love?

Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are but princesses that are waiting to see us act just once with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest essence, something helpless that needs our love. -Rainer Maria Rilke

Not everything is seen with your eyes.

"When the night is cloudy, I still believe in stars, Even when the darkness blocks the light. They're shining out like beacons on the other side of hope. You can see them when you hold your heart just right." - Selia Qynn

Peace

If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies. -Moshe Dayan

I would argue that it is actually your moments of indecision.

"It's in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped." -Anthony Robbins

I bet Smith and Wesson would support this.

"Be willing to make decisions. That's the most important quality in a good leader. Don't fall victim to what I call the ready-aim-aim-aim-aim syndrome. You must be willing to fire." — T. Boone Pickens

Sometimes these quotes get sent to me just in the nick of time.

"The best way to escape from a problem? Is to solve it!" - Welsh Proverb

I LOVE THIS QUOTE!

"I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret." - Tony Robbins

Finding comfort

"It's surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you're not comfortable within yourself, you can't be comfortable with others." - Sydney J. Harris

Quotes should be insightful, thought-provoking or funny. This one is funny.

"Failure isn't an option. It is bundled with your software." ~Unknown

Take on one new challenge.

"When people say to me: "How do you do so many things?" I often answer them, without meaning to be cruel: "How do you do so little?" It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever." - Philip Adams

Today I wrote myself some affirmations that I can use in all areas of my life

I am presented challenges throughout my day so that I can demonstrate the level of my character in how I address each challenge. I am confided in because I am trustworthy. To be trusted is an honor not a chore and should be treated as such. I am asked to mentor because I have proven that I can present ideas, share my experiences and add insight in ways that are valued. I instinctively take the lead because I am confident in my skills and abilities as a leader. That does not make me an expert in everything, it means that I am comfortable managing tasks for myself and others and that I enjoy leading others so that they can feel appreciated and successful. I am asked to solve complex problems because I have spent years learning and practicing effective techniques that enable me to logically think outside the box. Every challenge is an opportunity to shine. I will SHINE.

Your self worth will count for something eventually.

"If you really do put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price." -Anonymous

Damn. I hate it when I read a quote and feel like I got kicked in the ass at the same time.

"The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it is the same problem you had last year." — John Foster Dulles

Tripping over pebbles

"Small ills are the fountains of most of our groans. Men trip not on mountains, they stumble on stones." -Chinese Proverb

Alterations

We must alter our lives in order to alter our hearts, for it is impossible to live one way and pray another. -William Law

Why is it my rocking chair always moves backwards?

"Worrying is like being in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but does not get you anywhere." - author unknown

So much for luxury accomodations.

"Life does not accomodate you, it shatters you. It is meant to, and it couldn't do it better. Every seed desstroys its container or else there would be no fruition." - Florida Scott-Maxwell

Being wrong is alright

"Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You're able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgment." - Ralph Marston

How do you spend your energy?

Worrying is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere. -Unknown

The blame game

People may fail many times, but they become failures only when they begin to blame someone else. -Unknown

Excellent idea. I think I'll go for it.

"Excellence can be obtained if you: ...care more than others think is wise; ...risk more than others think is safe; ...dream more than others think is practical; ...expect more than others think is possible." - author unknown

Circumstantial

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them." - George Bernard Shaw

It's not where you came from that matters it's where you want to be.

"Don't ask about caste or riches but instead ask about conduct. Look at the flames of a fire. Where do they come from? From a piece of wood—and it doesn't matter what wood. In the same way, a wise person can come from wood of any sort. It is through firmness and restraint and a sense of truth that one becomes noble, not through caste." -Sutta Nipata

Pay attention to your stress.

"Stress is inner biofeedback, signaling you that frequencies are fighting within your system. The purpose of stress isn't to hurt you, but to let you know it's time to go back to the heart and start loving." ~Sara Paddison

My life, by Me

"I'm convinced that we can write and live our own scripts more than most people will acknowledge. I also know the price that must be paid. It's a real struggle to do it. It requires visualization and affirmation. It involves living a life of integrity, starting with making and keeping promises, until the whole human personality the senses, the thinking, the feeling, and the intuition are ultimately integrated and harmonized." ~Stephen Covey

Task Master

Your life isn’t just about you. The decisions you make and the things you do impact other people. Be aware of how you are connected to others and respect those connections.

Staying Grounded

I found the following article on DailyOm.com . If you have never been to that website you should go check it out. I subscribe to several of their newsletters and really enjoy them a lot. March 29, 2006 Keeping Conscious Staying Grounded In A Busy World 1. Live simply and live deliberately. By choosing not to get caught up in the details of this fast-paced world, you are doing your part to slow down the speed of life. You will also discover that you have more time to enjoy being alive. 2. Stay in touch with yourself. Soul searching, meditation, and journaling are just a few of the many activities you can take part in to stay aware and learn as much as you can about your emotions, reactions, likes, dislikes, dreams, and fears. Having a solid sense of self gives you a firm foundation for living in this world. 3. Support or teach others as often as you can. This can help you form connections with people while also giving you an opportunity to make the world a better place. 4. Consciously...

Get ready.

The upside of the downside

Are you parked in the harbor?

"Load the ship and set out. No one knows for certain whether the vessel will sink or reach the harbor. Cautious people say, 'I'll do nothing until I can be sure'. Merchants know better. If you do nothing, you lose. Don't be one of those merchants who wont risk the ocean." ~Rumi

What do you want to change?

Happy people already know this:

"Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something special in them. Look on the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone you meet a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and to noble for anger." ~Christian D. Larsen (also recognized as The Optimist Creed)
